Thought I'd share another lil' known facet of m'artistic hobbies... One that regrettably I hadn't practiced in more'n 25 years... is archery.
Not that I've ever gone out bow huntin' ( I have 2 bows, a long and compound... these were shot usin' m'compound bow) but I do enjoy gettin' in some practice on harmless non-livin' targets such as the tombstones and gourds that've been placed in front of and in this roll of hay. (pic 1)
Pics 2 an 3 were from m'first round an while the arrangement looks wide spread as ya can see by the close-up of pic 3 that I actually managed ta score on both the gourd and tombstone on the left.
Pic 4 is from m'second round... an while I didn't do quite as well if ya look closely ya can see that I managed ta score on the center tombstone in that round.
Pic 5 was m'third round and while I didn't score on any of the smaller targets ya can see how close ta dead center I'd been aimin' for...
So I think that's not too bad fer an old half-blind wuff that ain't practiced in years wouldn't'cha say ;)

Pawsome! ...an yeah I know how ya feel... had pretty much thought I'd never do any more archery years ago cause'a m'failin' eyesight... but Idunno... sometimes somethin' deep inside'a jus' won't let'cha give up entirely on anythin' ya used ta love doin'... so I say hey even if ya do gotta change it up a lil' it's still better'n not doin' anythin' at all :)
I feel you! I actually remember now that Travis got the like, kids archery set he played with when he was young from his parents. Maybe this summer I can see how that is, even if it's too old or something it can give me an idea if a kid's bow might work for me... Scaling down seems to be helping in other areas. Just, smaller, less taxing versions of the things I used to do.
Gotta make the most of things!

heh yeah, ya'd think so... trouble was/is that the grass at the front/around that shelter behind the target roll hasn't been mowed an was a thick carpet at the time... an when yer aimin' low the arrows tended ta skim the ground an get swallowed up entirely by that grass patch!... I had ta get a rake an rake the grass ta try ta recover some of the arrows... cause y'know, when I tried usin' the giant afro pick "I ain't found shit!"
Pawsome! yeah I've practiced some with recurves an at least ta me, they do have a higher tension than longs so they pack more of a punch when used fer shorter distance... Longs were mainly used more fer multiple archer long distance combat mostly anyways... jus' like the 'slight' differences b'tween compounds an composites... both're pretty similar but one is designed more fer distance while the other is better at close range :)
