Things are really moving fast for the Laboratory. Honestly, it's becoming rather hard to keep track of. We keep getting a large number of requests for fictional creatures, people want to explore worlds of fantasy and intrigue. In the past, we've done our best to accommodate, but it can be challenging. A common request is the world of Pokemon. This poses a problem for us as each Pokemon requires a great deal of work to mimic and replicate. And with God knows how many types of Pokemon exist now, catering to all requests can be difficult. We decided we would try to create a catalogue of as many as we could as well as a genetic mock up for these creatures. This has been a joint task between Dr. Summers, Dr. Penny, and Ms. Belle (who has been trying to design the changes for each type and breed of Pokemon). It's taken a lot of work, but we now have a new treatment which works in a similar manner as our 'Spirit Animal' product, which should take elements of the Spirit Animal treatment and apply them to similar animal traits of Pokemon, to create a Pokemon transformation that should suit the client. This is all a huge work in progress at the moment, and has not yet left the lab. It's still very much in the realm of testing.
In amongst this realm of testing, a rather fortunate encounter arose with Ms. Arachne. Now, for those of you who don't watch the news, Ms. Arachne is something of a public hero. With new mutations and treatments available to the Human race, some of them have taken to using these abilities and powers for good. Ms. Arachne is one such character. In truth, we didn't know much about her, but she happened to save one of our interns from a mugging, which has led to an unlikely friendship. As it turns out, Ms. Arachne has an enhanced healing factor, something that we believe could be adapted to benefit, not only our clients, but modern medicine too. Ms. Arachne miraculously agreed to visit us here at the labs, and to help us test some treatments. As it so happens, when she came in, Dr. Penny was insistent on testing the Pokemon treatment, as it would put a greater strain on the body in it's current form, and we needed some data before we could proceed. Our Superheroine agreed and so testing began!
The Pokemon treatment did not use a traditional method of genetics, but rather the inclusion of Nanites to craft the appearance and traits of a Pokemon. As these were fictional creatures, it was easier to program nanites than reprogram ones genetic code. However, the Nanites can be a little unpredictable, and can change more than just biology. When they were ingested into Ms. Arachne's system, several unexpected changed happened. The first was that she began to change into a Lopunny, a Pokemon close to an actual Rabbit. However, she did not go as far as to develop fur or features we'd expect from this type of change. We theorise that Ms. Arachne's advanced healing factor was rejecting the nanites faster than they could alter her body. However, our nanites are no slackers either, and it appears they went double time on the rest of her body. Her chest and hips thickened slightly, her chest in particular really racing upwards through the sizes. We think the nanites were increasing their output to try and top her healing factor, in what can only be called the most bizarrest of stalemates. The last change, that we really weren't expecting, was that the nanites altered Ms. Arachne's suit. They changed the structure of her costume to better fit the design and style of the Lopunny. Now, this meant her face was exposed, revealing her face to those Doctors present. To put the situation right, some of the staff here were required to sign Non-Disclosure Agreements, as well as fronting the cost for a replacement costume.
Dr. Penny assures us that what we learnt from this experience was worth it, but that really remains to be seen as of yet. It's been a long and confusing process. Ms. Arachne has already been seen saving the day, back to normal... except for an additional weight on her chest... We're sure that'll reduce as time marches on... Probably...
