Patches cosplaying at the twins from Ouran High School Host club...I thought I'd put a little twist/riddle/puzzle on this one...
[You come upon two foxes that look like mirror images of one another. Each fox stands infront of a door. The door to the left (<-- ) is blue, the door to the right (-->) is red. Both foxes smile in that foxie way and give a deep bow. Speaking in union they greet you
(both)"Welcome!
(left)Behind one door is a great treasure...
(right)...behind the other is tragedy.
(both) you may enter only one door and we know what is on the other side but we will not tell you....you may ask one of us a single question only!
(left) One of us always lies...
(right) and one of us always tells the truth...
(both) so what is your question?
EDIT:
LatNam got it right...both of them are liers

But in this case, I'd "Spear" one ;D

Bah, it's all a moot point anyways, since both doors contain a tragedy and a treasure... the treasure being discovering what's on the other side, the tragedy being to live the rest of your life not knowing what was behind the other door....
::Continues sprouting philosophical statements, waits till the twins are too distracted by philosophy to notice, then peaks behind both doors::

The riddle doesn't work! If one always lies, he'd never admit that he lies. Only the truthful one would tell you that one lies and one tells the truth. And usually when I've seen this riddle, it turns out both are liars and that it is a trap either way.
So I'd ask either, "What would you do to me if I fell into your trap?"
So I'd ask either, "What would you do to me if I fell into your trap?"
Simple.
The fact that BOTH of them said "One of us lies, and the other tells the truth" clearly indicates that they both lie.
Let's look at this logically:
If one lied and one told the truth, then the one that lied would not have said either statement because both statements would have been true.
Ergo, both lie. "One of us lies" is a lie, because BOTH of you do, and "the other tells the truth" is a more blatant lie.
HOWEVER
Because they both lie, then that means they also lied about the part of "One contains treasure, the other Tragedy" part as well.
Thus, here's what you do:
Point to a door (let's say the red one). Ask either one (let's say the one on the left) "Is there tragedy behind that door?" If the answer is 'yes', walk through. If the answer is 'no', walk away, because they both have tragedy.
