Worlds of Wonder
“Okay, Let's see here...” The Skunkette said to herself Reviewing a Sheff of handwritten notes, as she stood in her basement workshop. Around her were the trappings of a magickal life; shelfs and tables piled high with mystical books, crystals and amulets, jars of herbs, powders and other raw materials used in her craft. The walls were plastered with tables of correspondences, planetary charts and diagrams as well as the occasional fantasy poster. that she used strictly for inspiration as she prepared her latest experiment. This, was Hazel Greenwood, who had the fortune for good or ill, of being born on the thirty first of October which gave her a predisposition to walk the pathways of ancient magicks (whether she wanted to or not.) Yet her pathway into the occult world was more unique for her as Hazel applied a modern scientific approach to the practice of ancient arcainum.
“According to the transit of mercury, the most auspicious time to attempt a magickal transport would be in....” she paused looking at her watch. “In about fifteen minutes. “okay, time to make this official.” she said to herself reaching out and slipping on what she referred to as her 'Mystical magick gear' a standard polyester lab-coat that she has applied mystical symbols to with a sharpee marker. She was dressed in a white button down short sleeved shirt and knee length light blue skirt with matching flats. Taking a moment to tie her wild snow white main back with a blue silk ribbon.
Stepping over to the elaborate diagram meticulously chalked on the concrete floor she stuffed her notes into her shoulder bag and withdrew her journal, which served the purposes of a 'Spell Book” for this young Witch.
“I can't believe I am about to turn twenty four! I bet Jack is going to be teasing me mercilessly about 'Christmas Cake' sheesh, he is such a total Otaku... but if this spell works it will save me a fortune on bus-fair.” she chuckled to herself as she checked her watch then opened her journal to her latest entry.
“Okay, with luck Jack will be buying me a pint at the Rat and Raven when I 'pop in', at least I hope this works... looks like it is starting to rain and I Really don't want to have to hoof it two miles in the wet.” she declared looking out the basement window at the inclement weather outside.
Casting her circle she felt the subtle powers wash over her fur, it always gave her a thrill, and for this reason she usually did her working in the nude, but this time she thought better of it, for if this worked she would appear in the nearby village at the local pub to meat her erstwhile boyfriend Jack Northgate. Jack was a rather geeky bespectacled Skunk with a love of technology who had for some unexplained reason, wormed his way into her heart, and she thought with a warm smile, into her bed as well. He was a completely unabashed japanophile, it was something she found quite endearing, as they shared a love of Manga and Anime and would spend hours discussing the subtleties of the genre.
Quieting her mind as she centered her focus, she read the short incantation, she felt the power spike and with a bright flash and pop of displaced air Hazel Greenwood vanished from her basement workshop.
In a secluded glade a thunderclap rent the clear morning air and the unconscious Skunkette collapsed face down in the soft green grass... The spell had worked, just not in the way she had expected...
Groaning a few minutes later, she slowly worked herself into a sitting position, she could hear a cow lowing in the distance.
“Well, going to have to work on that reentry, it felt like I was caught in an unexpected pillow fight only they were using sacks full of doorknobs.” she grumbled shaking her head to clear it. Not seeing anything familiar as she looked around and got to her feet.
“Seems I overshot the village, I....” she paused as her surrounding came into focus, the trees were square, the nearby hillside looked to be made of a pile of brown and green cubes. Hearing the lowing of cows she walked a short distance locating the source of the sound and came face to face with a rectangular brown and white cow, it's square face tilted at the unfamiliar creature standing before it and it mooed softly. Hazel slowly reached out and touched the bizarre looking creature and it was indeed real, it mooed once more and wandered away to eat grass.
“What the heck is going on here? Calm down Hazel there has to be a logical explanation here, maybe it's an acid flashback from that lost weekend a few months back when Jack and I dropped acid. Yeah, that's got to be it. Visual hallucinations... gotta be. ” she muttered to herself as she wandered around trying to get her bearings in this surreal landscape.
“Well it's going to make one hell of a story to tell next time I see Jack.” She thought reaching for her journal to make some notes. Rummaging through her bag, her hand fell upon an unexpected book, it was thicker than her journal and tingled with magickal energy. Removing it from her bag, it appeared to be a green leather covered book, lightly running her fingers over the embossed lettering, it read:
[Minecraft Recipe Book]
Version 1.11.2
“What the heck is Minecraft?” she asked aloud. Opening the book.

“Welcome to the Minecraft Recipe Book Version 1.11.2, please state your name for the interface.” Hazel heard the book ask.
“...Hazel, Greenwood?” She replied, not sure what was going on.
“Welcome, Hazel to the world of minecraft, where the limits exist only in your mind. Please refer to the quick start guide to begin your building adventure.” the voice of the book said.
