SOO Line GP15C bobbles along westbound along the spur to Liberty Paper in Golden Valley, MN. This is former Minneapolis, Northfield & Southern trackage. I'm guessing this is 1993. Originally shot on Kodak Gold 400ASA with a non-descript Kodak 'point and shoot'. Then re-shot RAW at 100ASA. Colour curves were used in Photoshop to correct negative orange cast and then inverted. Then brought into Aperture for further tweaks.

This locomotive had been repowered by a Caterpillar Prime mover and it had a very different sound from a typical GP9. Rebuilt only 2 years before she still gleamed and glistened!

Built by EMD as NYC GP9 #7066, #7444 then to PennCentral #7444, then to ConRail #7444. Acquired by Generation II Locomotives in 1991 and rebuilt with a 1,500 Hp. Caterpillar 3512 engine.

SOO Line then bought it and numbered to #4103. It was sold back to Generation II Locomotives in 1999.

A sister engine, 4102 met a nasty fate at the hands of a runway GE B39-8E #8589 in 1996.

4102 was subsequently retired and most likely stripped and scrapped since it's back was broken.
