typically when I paint I use a wet brush and all the colours blend together. This time I dry brushed most of it, which I agree, made for a very nice irridescent effect in the eyes.

what a beautiful character. me want to hug him immediately.

ah, drybrushing? also a good terchnique to add highlights to smooth, shiny surfaces. for this you need a stiff brush, though.
