koopacooper's "Leana" was initially penciled in to become one of the "Mud Scouts" when I received a commission offer to do a pic of her in a sand trap. As per my procedure, the first step is a test pic to adapt the character to my style, of which this sketch is the first result

(yes, this is how my sketches end up looking. I can't help but to clean them up like this...must be why I produce so few of them :) )

Since Leana's original form is that of a nekomimi, in order to maintain some consistency with the rest of the Mud Scout troupe, I opted to re-imagine her as a western-style anthropomorphic cat, (also because I don't trust myself to produce a credible-looking rendition of her as a neko 9_9) though I did succeed in retaining some aspects of her design, notably the anime-ish eyes and the fennec-like ears. Next step will likely be a full-body sketch to nail down her clothes before I start work on the actual commission piece
