figured out the handle design for the most part.
3 layers, center is yellow oak and the outer is red maple.
this is just the raw wood and is in process of being glued together.
I also wasn't thinking too much about the entire blade design this time so for the first time I am having to use pins to secure the blade.
The handle will be clamped together for at least a day then I'll be working on the final shape and design.

honestly, I've thought about it but I don't have the right equipment to safely cut it the right way. I can cut it against the grain all day long with my miter saw but to make knife scales it needs to be cut "with" the grain.
I do want to give it a try though, after I figure out how to cut the pieces and keep my fingers lol

finally figured out how to cut the cedar I have from my neighbors tree, with a band saw, one of several tools I want that I don't have yet, and it would need to be one of the big floor stand models too so it can open up big enough for a log about a foot wide. The smaller bench top models only go about 8 inches or so.
