This is gonna be the first part of a series I plan to make called Rainbow Bridge. As the name suggests, the series will be tributed to the pets in my life that are no longer with me.
This piece features Maple, a young female Syrian hamster who I got back in early November of 2018. She was tiny, but was full of energy and was always curious and loved to explore and climb on me. Unfortunately, a week after I brought her home, she no longer showed those traits because she got wet tail unexpectedly. Thankfully, my workplace (pet store) had a vet clinic inside and they were able to see her and prescribe her antibiotics. Two weeks into her treatment, she began to turn around! She was back to her old self... Or so I thought. Two days before her passing, she declined again without warning and went into her final sleep near her food dish in early December 2018. I only knew Maple for a month, but she was the friendliest and most fun hamster I've ever had. There was never a dull moment with her. Glad she's in a better place now. 🐹
