This is an old work from '07 I never posted. Commissioned by Badger, this piece took me over a year to complete because it was such a headache - I just didn't enjoy painting it. I don't normally draw taurs or guns, so this one is certainly different from my norm.
It's quite a step down from my current skill level, but I don't hate it as much as I used to. The colours at least are nice and warm.
The story behind this picture was written by Allen Fesler. From memory, the main character in the pic is a Rakshasi called Dessa. The scene is a training exercise.

aw, a whole year in the making? still it looks awesome, and not overdone or like, humble, as one might expect when the artist has a hard time finishing something.
interesting scene there. the surrounding forests look too peaceful to serve as training grounds, but there. :)

So you’re the one that did this beautiful piece! A friend commissioned it for my tale, but I didn’t know you were here. I’m sorry it made you uncomfortable to do, had I known I would have requested something that you would have enjoyed more. Sadly you would need to draw taurs for nearly anything Folly as most of the crew/family be four legged types. Fav and saving now that I know where you’re hiding …
Cheers! I don't think it was the subject that put me off, but Badger was pretty specific about every detail and fitting four characters in a nice composition was really hard. I have grown up since then, and have painted a taur just last month that I was really happy with. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3155470
I know! That four-breasted foxy taur fav’ed by someone else is what led me to your page only to see Neal’s terror twins using one of their little sisters to get the jump on poor Dessa. (Tailstingers can deliver a nasty sting if set on high, but cause no lasting damage other than the one stung might learn to keep their eyes open and their tail down! )
