You know, I dunno. I think depends on what people do with the basic cogs of each machine. Fanfiction is where you can explore what-ifs and all of that other happy shit. So it's what you make of it. I'm just tired of the Star Wars shit, and I'm tired of how caustic the goddamned fandom around it can be. I'm grateful to the awesome people I've met through the fandom, but I'm dipping out of the dumpster fire before that shit looks like Mischief Night in The Crow.

The Last Jedi had some good moments....but that's all they were. Moments.
The Finn and Rose arc sucked. Admiral...Holdo?..or whatever that purple haired ladies name was, was a horrible leader that kept an already panicking rebel cell in the dark about a possible escape just cause she's in charge.
I will admit the Poe and Hux exchange was funny but it went too far with the..leaking electrical circuits.
The build up to Snoke was all thrown out the window just cause why the fk not!
Rey is a Merry Sue.

If you don't like the movie, that's fine, that's your right. But attitudes like this are what's pretty much ruined it for everyone, even the actors who play the parts, the writers, hell, even George Lucas himself.

Hoo boy. I never liked the idea of personally attacking the actors and anyone involved in making movies that they didn't like. If people choose to debate why a movie is great or sucks, meh that's fine to me too until it starts turning into personal attacks then it's going too far.
Yeah but it's almost NEVER just a debate. It always gets heated. And the fandom is well known for taking shit too damn far. It's been a dumpster fire for years at this point, and now...ugh, it's just insufferable.
What I don't get is why people can't just enjoy what they enjoy about it and forget the shit they don't. Like, if people are so upset with how a certain storyline or plot point was handled, FIX IT IN YOUR FANFICTION. Whatever.

Understandable... the fandom is beyond toxic, but I just choose to ignore it. I'm holding on to Star Wars to the point I may be the little dog in the meme with the burning room saying "this is fine." Yes, the bullshit is so deep you need rubber waders to get through it, but I refuse to let the shitty fans ruin for me those feelings that Star Wars brought me as a kid and the feelings I still get when I watch the movies. ALL the movies. I'm sorry it's been ruined for you, I completely understand. I guess I hold onto Star Wars and those feelings it brought me because it got me through a rough spot when I was a kid. I hope someday you're able to enjoy it again, but I understand if you can never come back.

I had invested so much of the 90s in the novels of the expanded universe, that when the Prequels started reconning all of that material that was advertised and sold as being canon approved by Lucas, I was out at that point.
That's when I decided to start developing my own story-worlds and universes. Playing in someone else's sandbox can be fun, and Star Wars was definitely a fun sandbox, and it's a good way to get one's toes wet. However, creating my own detailed and flesh-out worlds with their own lore and history has been far more entertaining and rewarding.

Like, I love your Star Wars work (I, the faceblind person who can never recognize actors/people, actually recognized your Obi-Wan even furrified! You has the skillz!), and not seeing more of it is a bit sad. But you gotta do what makes you happy. If Star Wars isn't it, that's your choice/determination to make.

Oh dear, reading through the comments, sorry to read this. It, did get rather toxic, didn't it? I mean, my feelings are a bit more complex, but, I'll spare you.
You have the right to love what ever you love, and draw what ever theme you want, be it Star Wars or Elder Scrolls, and if Star Wars no longer makes you happy, then just be happy, and draw what you want.
