This is my interpretation of when Walter and Tony met for the first time in collage. Back then, Walter was nicknamed "Bear Ball" because of his round belly. Tony was a bigger tough guy than he is now, as he was the kind of guy who'd pick a fight with anyone. However, Walter was good and kind, even if everyone, including Tony, made of of him for it. In fact, when Tony called him this, Walter didn't feel the least bit insulted, as he wanted to be like his father before him, even if he did take it too seriously.
