So, here's a very not-great doodly thing. Figured I'd share it to show I'm still alive and all, since I"ve been so unproductive lately.
This is a random character I've had bouncing round my head, Jarvis the vampire ferret. He's similar to Spike in some ways, in that they're both punkish vampiric mustelids with insatiable appetites...but also different, like for instance Spike wants to be bad (and is terrible at it) whilst Jarvis wants to be good (and is terrible at it). Also, Jarvis came from a rich family with parents who tried to raise him to be well-mannered and responsible and intellectual (which they completely failed at, on all accounts). And more things I'm currently too lazy to list.
Might try to draw him more, but haven't entirely decided what to do with him yet.
Was going for kind of a nervous/sheepish vibe with the pose and expression, but dunno if it works at all or not. And you can't tell due to my not attempting lighting or anything, but I imagine his irises as being like they're backlit (so they glow in the dark). Since I've been thinking for a long time that there should be something freaky about vampire eyes, but wasn't sure what.

Glad you like! I'm annoyingly struggling a lot to draw lately, but I'd like to draw him more (and better, ideally :P).
He isn't necessarily a sheepish or nervous person ('manic' or 'erratic' would be more accurate, probably), just he often finds himself in situations that inspire those emotions. More timid than Spike, but that's not saying much.

Ha! At first glance I thought someone had put make up and hair dye on Spike, he looked so embarassed. On closer inspection there are some clear differences like he lacks Spike's nosebump.
In my opinion the more lanky vampire mustelids the better. And you did succeed with the nervous/sheepish vibe.
So is he as tall as Spike?

You nailed it. I am fond of bad at being good characters so I welcome him with open arms.
You should do a side by side of Jarvis and Spike trying to pickup up women and fumbling at. It would be a fun contrast.
Just as you often pair wanna be bad boy Spike with a bad girl who affectionately Doms him you should pair Jarvis with a pseudo nice girl who humors his attempts at chivalrous behavior.

Yay, glad you think I succeeded!
If I were to pair him up with anybody (he's a huge flirt, but unsure yet if he'd actually try to commit to a relationship), it'd be some comically over-the-top bossy and hot-headed girl who he'd be constantly trying to appease in semi-doormat-like fashion. Because the role-reversal of a 'normal' successfully bossing around a vampire is just too amusing to me.
He isn't entirely good, still in the neutral range, just more to the good side than the bad side. Vampires in my universe have an extremely difficult time being good, just due to their nature and instincts and etc., which is why he's bad at being good (but he still tries). I really need to write out more about his personality and stuff at some point, when I'm less lazy.

Hot headed bossy chick is a good pairing too and I agree seeing powerful undead playing servants never stops amusing me. Thats big reason why the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy was so good.
Good lay down your rules for vampires early I've often refer to this variant concept on the reluctant vampire as the Bloody Gentlemen ever since back in my Vampire the Masquerade days.

Bloody Gentleman? I like it. XD
I've always preferred the more animalistic and creepy and generally 'monstrous' kind of vampires to the kind that's perfectly charming and can easily turn good. With the latter, it turns the evil vampires into flat cartoon villains, because why would they choose to be hated rather than being part of society, other than just 'for the evulz'? That, and creepy things are fun.
