All 3 of posts so far have been major story characters, so this one will be a bit of a step back, looking a common animal in their world, the Slash Wrib.

Wribs have the general appearance of what a hypothetical transitional species directly from reptiles to fish would look like. This world has no reptiles nor fish, although wribs did originate from reptile-like creatures evolving to an amphibious lifestyle. A characterizing trait can barely be seen in the forelimbs, where the fin seems to connect to the body right below the gills, but is actually connecting to another limb, which leads to a connection near the middle of the body. That’s about wribs in general, so on to Slash Wribs.

Slash Wribs feed on bugs and other aquatic animals, as an ambush predator. The claws on their fins anchors themselves to the bottom of bodies of water, or to climb trees. They also have a dolphin-like caudal fin, obviously used for improved swimming. A relatively simple creature, and what it does isn’t requiring of magic, so they can use their’s for basic magical enhancements, but more importantly, thermoregulation.
