14"x18", watercolor and india ink.
There's a lot I could say about this piece - but to keep myself from writing a novel, I will just say this - This piece went through many transformations to get to this point. This originally started as an ink sketch of a piaffe (a dressage move) and then took off from there.
I am fascinated with the idea of transformation, it is a constant inspiration I explore with a lot of my art. I think that is part of why I find myself so drawn to northwest coast native american art styles - their bold stylization covers a heavy theme of transformation and connection. Horses can fly without wings, they use the wings within.
