All of these expressions have been made through the regular morphs and joints of the character, with no point corrections afterwards. It would be possible to improve them further as stills if I just went the extra mile and moved some points around manually, but this character is meant for animation, and point-by-point animation for each beat would be too much work to be feasible.
In animation (by a single person...) the basic rig needs to cover all the extreme points needed to convey the expression, if possible in only a few shapes to keep the effort low. Allegedly Shrek had 400 facial controls in the first movie - that is hard to keep track of and harder to employ efficiently.
