I couldn't possibly title this better than
derecho did. (Seriously, look how far those pebbles are deflecting!)

Derecho and I both enjoy windy days, and we live in the flatlands of southern Illinois and Indiana. He used to take photos for the railroads in the area, and found an abandoned pair of grain silos that act as a wind funnel. If you look at "Searching the Prairie Grasses", you can see how far away the nearest trees are that could slow the wind, and it was already a 25-30 mph wind day. Between the silos, it reached 40+, and at the focal point directly between them, I would estimate it hit hurricane speed. (I discovered this when I unexpectedly stepped into it, and it knocked me right off my feet!)
Not something I'd want to endure all the time, but it made for a very interesting and entertaining photoshoot!
TL/DR version? Capes.
