''He was normal once, ya know? Well, at least his body was - calling anyone working on the first Gear-Sun a bit crazy would be like like calling violent death a bit unpleasant. Even so, he was one of the project
leaders, a rather brilliant researcher, 'though they did say that he joined the project for a personal cause, whatever that may be. When the Sun crashed he went even more insane, his guilt colliding with a sense of professionalism, so he retreated to the ancient city library and started studying all that cosmic horrors and what-do-you-call ''majical'' mumbo-jumbo. It wasn't until many years later that all those odd scriblings caused him to completely lose his head (Heheheh. Heh.) and become something more (or less) than an average bloke. He's still there - among the moldy old tomes - and his peculiar... condition... causes him to remember everything he did, saw, heard or read. But as I said - he's utterly insane now, and of course, when asked for information he wants something of equal value in return. The problem being, he determines what ''equal value'' is - a friend o' mine once tried to find a book on gardening in there - he told her that he'll show her where it is if she slaughters half o' the town as a sacrifice for an elder god. On the other hand, I once heard that some lucky would-be adventurer made him a sandwich and got a location of a hidden treasure in return. Of course, the bloke never came back, but here we like to believe he found eternal bliss or something. Heh. All I be saying is, if the info you need is something valuable, you'd better hope that the Scholar feels crazier than usual when you ask for it.''
A character from the same ''story'' as the Doctor, based on an old sketchbook doodle. I really like doing spirals and bright blue colors, can you tell?
Argh, I hate when this happens - I screw up in the beginning and don't notice it 'till it's too late, and then it takes ages to finish because I know no matter how much time I spend on it, it will come out flawed >.<

Probably because it bears a striking resemblance to Pyramid Head. The cloth skirt, the posture, the weird vaguely triangular shaped object where his head should be, not saying the artist mimiced pyramid head, but I'm seeing the simularities. It's still a good image, and I like the backstory, it's well written and imaginative.
Gorgeous design. It's eerie yet mystical, lending me plenty of interesting musings upon viewing...but I must say, your excerpt was nothing short of fascinating. I love trippy, twisted 'myth' style stories such as this and you did a great job blending history with possible conclusions.
Nice, nice work!

This is badass. Great job with the fine details. I read some comments on how it reminded others of certain vidya games. I been playing mass effect 2 and I immediately thought of the collectors when I saw this. It's the robe/ armor its wearing. Blah blah blah great job again!
Wow, this design almost matches perfectly with the abominations in Dragon age
