It's late at night. The neighbors are all asleep. The good news is: there is a full moon, so you can see despite the out-of-order street light. The bad news is--you're about to get your skull caved in.
As written in the description of the pencils for this pic posted last year, Cynthia has an unhealthy fascination with insane characters. A fascination that has led her to cosplay as a character from Paranoia Agent, "Lil' Slugger" (or Shōnen Bat). Yeah um, plastic bats don't hold a bend like that, so, this encounter is going to sting a little. Hope your insurance is paid up O_o.
After a year and two days, I've finally colored it. A day to digitally ink it using a straight-line tool, another day to color it. A couple of days late for Halloween, but eh--it's done. And quite possibly better than the original. This one kept my laptop's cooling fan pegged wide open all day, stopping only after I closed my graphics app.
Technical:
I've done night scenes before (actually very rarely), but I think this may be the first time I've combined a night scene with multi-layer light and shadow effects. I'm slowly learning this stuff, so I'm still a ways from the showy, shiny, glow-y digital coloring of present-day superhero comics (or the upper-tier artists here), but not bad for someone who only has half-a-clue as to what he's doing, using a Windows 95-era graphics application. This time I also used vanishing points, defined on a separate layer which allowed me to re-draw the backdrop in the proper perspective. Another time sink--putting in all those glowing windows on the skyscrapers in the distance.
Mechanical pencil, inked and colored in Micrografx Picture Publisher 8. 212MB uncompressed.

One of my favorite anime + one of my favorite artists = Far, far beyond awesome. Thank you, Railride.

Haven't done those yet, but I did do a pic of one of the girls coming up short during a jump over a mud hole wearing regular quad skates, and trying to pull them out in the very next pic.
