OKAY... so I was driving up to the mountains for the weekend, and I really wanted to buy this new CD that just came out so I could listen to it while I was driving. I knew they had it at Borders, but idk who else sold it. Anyway, I thought there was a Borders' in this town (which was like... the last civilization for many many miles) and it turned out to be a Books-A-Million. I go in, and the dude says they don't sell audio cds. I was like... crap, dude. So I went next door to Best Buy. BUT IT WAS 9:46 AND THEY OPENED AT 10. (and I had to be somewhere at 11:30)
So I waited 15 minutes to finally go in, and THEY DID NOT HAVE THE CD. I left with no good driving music to listen to and felt kind of... bleh. So I listened to some bluegrass/gospel radio station as I imagined the good country mountain folk would, and felt a little better (and realized I had some extra time to spare, so I went off the highway and decided to go down these random backroads and just let my good sense of direction lead the way)
So I was feelin' sorta hungry, and I see this little shack by the side of the road that was advertising burgers and hotdogs and food, and nobody was stopping there to eat, so I pulled in and ordered a chili dog and a gatorade and talked to this really cool country dude who was working there. He told me his life story about how him and his wife got divorced, she got their son, then she got put in jail, and then her son went off to live with some aunt, and now the dude works at this campground out in the middle of nowhere working this little store thing and cutting wood. I assured him that there were people with much worse situations and he said he agreed. I bode him farewell, and went on my way. I ended up getting where I needed to be at 11:30 sharp.
I feel so proud of myself.
