Gyah! I know. It used to be that you had to be a minimum of eleven years old to get in. Dunno why they changed it, because it means that the teachers have to pick up a lot more skills. Plus, I'd rather NOT see Snape handling children: the psychological trauma alone would be horrific. Years of therapy. And can you imagine the new schedules? "Potty Training, Block Stacking, Basic Alphabet and Numbers?" And can you imagine failing those classes and having to be held back?
