I remember seeing boots like that in a Frank Miller comic and they kinda looked dumb there with the huge red treads against the sparse black-and-white style of the rest of the comic showing off the soles as much as they could, but if there was a little scene like that about the character getting them specifically because they had so much tread on 'em it would have been a very welcome bit of levity in that comic.
