Purring was a way they use to find their kittens~
If I remember correctly.
But yes, some do meow. All. The. Time.
Especially when hungry.
And when not hungry.
And when bored. And not bored.
And happy.
And pissed. They hiss while they do that, too.
Should add like... acid spray when they hiss or something xP
Or some poisonous gas :3
