I wound up not doing anything special to mark Summer's ten-year anniversary because there wasn't anything I felt like redrawing until almost a year later. But I made up for it with the most elaborate shading job I've ever done.

This was an experiment in a new method: Shade in pure black on top of an all-white layer using SAI's paintbrushes, and then use Photoshop gradient maps to tint the intermediate colors, much like how Valve does the toon shading in TF2. It worked great aside from the fact that it took like 20 layers plus masks for the coloring alone and then I had to repeat the process on the outlines. The sequins are a whole new technique that I guess I have to do a new tutorial for one of these days.
