Since JustBuckingham just posted our first commission, which he did a remarkable job with, I wanted to comment about it here.
It turns out that Justbuckingham has real life experience with writing and editing and that certainly shows in his commission process! He's one of the most professional authors I've had the opportunity to work with online.
First and foremost, after the initial idea pitch he sent me an outline to approve before beginning to write. It seems like that made a big difference in making sure we both had the same set of expectations for the commission. Some of my other commissions have ended up going more off-track than what I expected, but JustBuckingham was great at making sure we were both satisfied with the direction the story was going.
In addition, he sent regular updates and asked for feedback as he was making progress with the story. As a commissioner that's much appreciated and seems to be one of the most significant factors in making sure the commissioning experience goes well. Also he handled feedback very well and make an honest effort to take it into account with each subsequent update. That was excellent and made the final story flow a lot better in the end. Speaking of which, JustBuckingham has the astuteness to handle more conceptual feedback beyond just "include X, Y, and Z" like being able to understand concerns about things like tone or pacing and make appropriate changes to address them. That seems to be a rare talent online!
Finally, the editing process for our first commission was one of the best I've ever seen. JustBuckingham actually made effective changes to the story to address feedback. Most significantly he actually deleted things that didn't work! The most common experience I've had is that people don't believe in the phrase "kill your darlings" and will often be able to add content based on feedback but almost never take anything out. JustBuckingham has been one of the few exceptions and our commission felt a lot more complete and polished because of it.
Overall, JustBuckingham did a great job with our commission. Based on our first experience I certainly intend to commission him again when he's open and and an appropriate idea comes to mind. if anyone's interested in the content you've seen in JustBuckingham's writing I can definitely recommend commissioning him!

Heyhey. Thanks for deciding to take on my commissions despite their nutso concepts. Always been a fan of the occasional over the top and you were just fine working with that. You were quick about it all and had no problems with sending plenty of WIPs so I knew what was going on.
Oh and the ability to actually follow the prompt as written and make meaningful changes when asked. I know it seems like a no-brainer but it amazes me how many writers seem to lack that. Instead they just do their own radical interpretation when its clearly spelled out. This automatically sets you a cut above most.
Good job across the board, would commission again. Probably for more normal stuff next time X3

This guy has high enough quality writing to get a guy named "seriallurker" to stop lurking.
I didn't have a set in stone prompt, just a list of likes, dislikes, and a basic premise. Fortunately, Buckingham was able to turn that into a more fleshed-out storyline which he sent to me to make sure it was what I wanted before the writing began.
He is extremely communicative. He sent me frequent notes letting me know the story had been updated and to let him know if there was anything I was happy with, concerned with, or wanted to change. I didn't need to change much, because he captured the exact feelings and attitude that I was hoping for.
At every step of the way he was unerringly professional and polite. An absolute joy to work with and if you like his current content at all then you won't be disappointed.

This guy is amazing! He's already written a few stories for me and one for a friend of mine. Each one was better than the last; he has a real talent for writing! Whether it was a transformation story, a growth story, or a cutesy fanfic he was able to get everything just right. He also puts up with my many many annoying edits which is always a plus.
Overall an awesome person to work with! I hope I can get even more stories from him in the future. :D

I've commissioned this guy three times, and I have to say it's been a great pleasure working with him on each of those times. He's responsive, creative, and generally fairly amiable overall, making it very easy to work with him. If you're stumped for an idea, he'll work with you to churn out something that works. Don't underestimate his versatility in creativity. He can and will make stuff work.
Thank you so much Buck I had such a great pleasure working with you, You are one of the few worthy writers I have met on the internet, I would suggest your talent for anyone who would like any details in their stories, the stories are well written, detailed and the plots he uses are cleverly used.

Incredibly talented and attentive commission author! I was so amazed by how out of their way they go to make sure I get exactly what I want from the story. Super helpful and professional with regular updates and a good estimation of the timeframe. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a story commission and return myself in the future ^^

Someone sent me a commission staring his character with you as a writer and I really, really enjoyed it. You looked up your page and see that you are open for commission too so I guess why not and commission you.
The first impression I got from you is that you work very fast and the quality is very good. You also allow multiple edits and that's great in my opinion.

With Buckingham having just completed my first commission from him, I would say now is a good time to say how my experience went.
It was completely and utterly fantastic from start to finish, and even that is an understatement. He was very approachable and helpful throughout the whole process. He openly and actively encouraged me to bring up things I didn't like so that they could be changed and he always, without fail, did an excellent job on improving them when requested. Not that there were many things that needing editing however, it was mostly small things, except for the addition of more content, because he is such an amazing writer, I was more than happy to pay for more! I was able to be a part of writing the story from beginning to end, and it is truly my story, just like how it's his incredible writing.
His writing itself is absolutely sublime, I cannot even begin to put into words how much I adored what he wrote for me. The characters were fleshed-out and well written, the pacing was spot-on, the situations were described in ways that would take me days to describe how wonderful I found them. Not only that, but he has this almost uncanny knack for figuring out what you want. I hadn't even mentioned that I wanted a secondary character to show up at another point during my last discussion with him, yet when I took a look the following day, he had already included him! Furthermore, he also managed my observing of his writing and many edits, which I greatly appreciated!
Even when it comes to payment, he's still incredibly helpful, being very understanding with a little issue with getting the money to him, and he was even kind enough to make sure the price didn't rise too high. He didn't have to, he could have just taken more of my money, but he didn't.
JustBuckingham is a writer unlike any other I've ever met, and you can rest assured that if I ever get the opportunity, I would instantly commission him again!

started out with going over some concepts and ideas, then came up with a rough storyboard/outline and gave nearly daily updates on progress and thoughts about how to continue. Responded to feedback very quickly, even when I had trouble explaining what I was trying to say.
Overall very happy with the process and the outcome, and would likely comm again at some point in the future.

I'll admit, it was rather different, being able to get bits and pieces of the story as they were written and provide feedback as it went along. I believe in the end, it proved to be beneficial as it allowed for other avenues to be explored as the piece progressed. Changes were made to better steer the end result to being what I envisioned and I'm happy that he allowed for that opportunity to be realized!

Buckingham was a blast to work with! From draft to finish I thoroughly enjoyed the story. Very accommodating in terms of edits, minor and major reworks. The communication is top-notch and professional too. As for quality, he's easily one of my favorite writers in the macro/muscle genre, and I believe his gallery speaks for itself. Overall fantastic job!
