Sorry, the reference went over my head. But regardless I think youll be hard pressed to find a real world scenario where knives are actually used in soldier on soldier combat. Not soldier on terrorist or insurgent who doesnt have access to weapons besides a knife. But youll find that even now in current conflicts the use of knives for actually killing other soldiers is just not something that happens anymore.
Of course. But I think you just haven't looked at enough WW1 related media. It could be argued that the Italian, Macedonian, or even Mesopotamian fronts are forgotten about, not to mention the actual "forgotten front" that was Libya, but the Western Front gets covered by far the most, and by extension, the French forces battling there. The French certainly get recognition.
