Allow me to introduce the rare Pangolin furry! The only mammal in the world covered in scales! So does that make him a furry or a scalie?
A few Pangolin facts:
They are a very shy, highly endangered species with 4 distinct species found in Africa and another 4 in Southeast Asia.
At the first sign of danger they roll up into a tight ball which even lions cannot penetrate! Most impressive of all though is probably their sticky tongue which they use to eat ants and termites. Fully stretched it's as long as their own bodies, from nose to tail!
Sadly few people know of Pangolins, the most illegally poached animal in the world. I highly encourage you to visit Youtube and type in their name. They are the cutest, most innocent animals you have probably never seen! <3 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QY1qqZiaTU8
I wish to help in their protection and survival, which is what greatly inspired me to draw this guy.
There is much more I wish to say as this is a subject that has left an impression of love and grief, so expect more to come in the future via a journal.

I never heard of Dota 2 before but after looking Pangolier up well indeed that is a Pangolin though in real life they are a bit more clumsy jeje. It is cool they used one though!
Yes, it is tragic because they are the world's most poached and trafficked animal in the world and few if any even know what a Pangolin is to begin with. I want to do some part in spreading awareness, thus why I drew this guy and intend to draw him more.

I know right? I love them soooo much!! How people can be so cruel to them is beyond my understanding.
I want to share that they exist because apparently few people know about them. Though unfortunately they are not proving easy to draw with all those scales. I got lucky with these three from the many sketches that I did so I need more practice.

Nice design!
I only rediscovered pangolins like a month or two ago (I had heard of them earlier but never really thought or read more about them) and they really are the most awesome mammal!
They're also the first animal to make me go "i NEED this as my sona" after almost 5 years in the fandom

Thank you, and I am glad to hear you are taking interest in them! They don't get near as much love and attention as they should, which makes me sad.
Though I admit drawing so many scales is not easy, but don't let that discourage you if you do decide to make an OC. I also intend to keep trying for their sake.

Hehe, yeah! I also noticed the scales are tricky and time consuming to draw, especially on the long-tailed pangolins (the ones with the orange highlight on their scales) which is what I'm aiming for :)
Doesn't help that i haven't really drawn in ages, but on the other hand, it's great practice!
Keep up the good work, i look forward to seeing more of them from you ^^

Yes, you mean the Black Bellied Pangolin of mid western Africa! https://youtu.be/C5kwbYYT39g?t=86
It took me many sketches of practice to get a good result I liked [these three] so don't worry if you can't get it right the first few times. I hope you pull it off! And I wouldn't mind seeing the results when you do. = )

Cool, pangolin art is too rare. Although my excuse for not drawing them regularly are the scales, so many scales. I got so sad seeing how such helpless little creatures are mistreated that I literally cried. I'm glad you appreciate them enough to draw.
