ah awesome character you've drawn! =D I've never ever found anyone else drawing the IRA (I guess people are afraid to that it'll offend someone) but I'm loving this theme! His everyday work clothing and less militaristic look make me think he looks like someone back from the 1920-1969 IRA before they split off to the Provisional Irish Republican Army in 1969 right?

I recall my uncle, who served in Northern Ireland during the height of The Troubles, sharing a story with me about travelling in the back of a truck through IRA-controlled countryside. They knew that there were likely being watched from the hills around them, and the atmosphere was tense. Then a man fell out of the back of the truck. Everyone thought he had been hit by a sniper, and braced themselves for a battle. Turns out he just fell out of his seat, and once he had been hauled back aboard, the convoy kept rolling without incident. :P

As a irishmen myself the IRA were heros at one point. But they quickly turned to harming those they vowed to defend and liberate. Their current forms are no more than petty gangsters and thugs, having lost sight of their original goal.
But aside from the politics its a nice piece! And good use of Gaelic!
