Continuing with the flashback to explain why there isn't a large research presence trying to learn about this unusually large Kyrathane.
So I'm continuing to try to draw these pages completely from scratch and it feels like they're slowly getting better. What I feel I really need to work on, though, is open mouths/muzzles. Just doesn't look right.
As always, questions, comments, thoughts, and critiques are welcome!

My current guess for what happened in the past (based on my experience with fiction more than with reality, I think) is that "the big guy" was once a normal (ranging from completely normal to raised-in-a-lab, but with being small being the thing of importance) member of his species who got made big by magic (whatever name it may take on). I will obviously wait to see whether this is true or not.
Are the markings like tattoos, but exploiting something that makes the skin glow? Or are they something rarer (hence the "father" comment directed at someone else with one)?

Interesting guess, but I'm not saying anything!
Let's just say that this is a part of a major plot thread that will come together with a-few other plot threads as things go on.
In Ynaa's case, the marking is just a sort of tattoo. The in-comic explanation is actually coming up on the next page, but it's something that a very small number of Kyrathane do, most often as part of long running family traditions.
