Hrm, interestingly enough it came off as a well founded game on its own. On the other hand, after watching the anime I started to understand the references and certain aspects of the game's background in more detail. So .. it's thoroughly enjoyable and playable on its own, but, as probably for anything, it adds way more depth if you watch/read the anime/manga beforehand :)

How did you experience the series?
Well, I'm glad to hear it! My friend bought //Sign and hated it but I ended up enjoying it. Eventually found the original PS2 series in some second hand store and from there went into the novels and sequel anime. Lost a bit of touch with it after //Roots and before G.U. since I didn't wana spoil the game by reading the books but picked it back up with the movie and //Quantum.
