Oh fred, how I used to doodle your characters all the time ya know ... like 8 years ago. >_< now I suck. LOL! Funny how hard it is to do other people's styles once you have your own.
I call this style, Fredmir. Or Mirfred. which is strange. I love the picture - but I totally failed, uber failed, epic failed at my beloved Fred style! Goddamnit! LOL oh well. It was really fun!
I sort of miss the old fred style, sure it wasn't as sexy and awesome skilled as he is now, but it had its cute and quaint memory lane sort of effect on me damnit.
Anyway. I know her heads too small, her hands are weird, her face is too mir and not enough fred, and ya know, too many wrinkles in the fabric, her thighs are too fat, her waist isnt thin enough.. boobs something something... The list GOES ON AND ON. I'm super nit picky.
But I still love it. It's an evil Charlie, with like, evil vampire arm ... LOL. BEWARE shes teh evil!
This is as good a shape as you'll see charlie for a VERY LONG TIME. Charlie chub is not fred perry style! LOL No body fat cept for boobies and some buttcheekage!

There's a lot of stuff in there that Fred uses, but you really developed so much since back then that it's hard to unlearn a lot of stuff to ape someone else's style, if they've not progressed as much on their own path. I tried not to ape his style too much when I did the Edge Guard spinoff.
I wonder if you might have sent him a link to this pic, at least to get his impression of it?
Though what is really funny is that a lot of really good artists get so nervous about showing their work to a professional artist that they like, like Perry, when they print a bunch of mediocre artists in the annuals and summer bikini specials.

He's super busy so I decided not to bother him. A friend knows him hell of a lot better than I do, and even he says they haven't chatted in a really long while.

Oh boys.. lesseee.. It was probably around 2000 - 2002. I was in one swimsuit and one annual. I have issues of them too, somewhere around here..
Still unpacking and I haven't put away my comics yet.
Swimsuit issue is SO hilariously bad, its a single image of brit in such a horrible 'manga' style, you'd never recognize it was me. =p
I'm credited in that issue as "Leigh".
In the annual, I did a comic that was a few pages long. Featuring Raph trying to find his lucky penny... It was stupid. I enjoyed it though. =3
