I adopted Ulario at the equine exchange this morning. Last night I was looking through the work of Heather Bruton, and I love her work with lit characters on black. At AC, I suggested she did a horse in such a manner. Then I was inspired to do my own, and what better character to do it with than Ulario's manly knight. Awesome.

I used some textured brushes by Kalamu to give it that look. So I'm glad you think that!

Goodness! I'd never have guessed it was digital either. It really looked like pastel and black sugar paper.

I am sure she'd be flattered to know that you were inspired by her work. :)

To be totally honest, I think that's the single best piece you've produced in terms of the amount of work that's obvious gone into it. The shadows on the cloak are very well done.
