Freedom of self
The only way to experience truth before physical death is devotion. Devotion means to live without self. To live without self means that you, the universe, everything, becomes sacred. The self has no vision for sacredness, because it is full of conditioning and creates many filters. To live in truth means to be free of all karmas and not being reincarnated again in the illusion. The soul is purified from all karmas and desires and is not being reincarnated again in the mind. The sense of being a separate self disappears. This is what is called in Taoism to become one with the universe or in Buddhism to be out of the circle of reincarnation. These philosophies are some of the pathways that lead to truth, but only when one is beyond the philosophy, when the soul has learned everything it has needed to learn about itself and the mind has become quiet, one can experience truth. As long as one hasn't dissolved their human karmas in society, such as greed, pride, lust, wrath, and so on, and personal karmas that form one's personality, the soul is not free of the illusionary separate self, because the sense of self is made up of these karmas. The self is the reason why the mind cannot be quiet, so in order to quiet the mind, one needs to learn how to purify the soul from the self. A purified soul is only love and this way, experiences truth. They are not attached to any status, family, culture, religion, or any other social structure. Only the self is attached to something and creates a sense of being separate from the universe because of its attachments. A seeker of truth is a seeker of unconditional love. An attachment is a condition which the karmic self creates. The self cannot experience unconditional love because it is made up of attachments. To be a seeker of truth means to be aware of ignorance and then to free one's soul from it by working on one's karmas until the self dissolves into love. When there is no more attachment, no more illusionary sense of self, truth is experienced. This is what it means to live in devotion.

Those patterns are synchronicities on the spiritual journey and are a sign of being more open to our higher self. The more close we are to the death of ego, the more we are open to our higher self. Those spurts of madness and glee are natural whithout ego because the ego has learned to repress feelings and expression of emotions because of its social conditioning.
