There are so many cool dog breeds to paint and Akitas get the added bonus that I can play with Japanese themes. I've been to Japan twice and loved it. This painting is done in "old masters" style. The complete picture was painted as a black and white painting with all the details. Then I used very thin glazes of acrylic in lay in the colours. Building them up, bit by bit till I had the colour depth I wanted. 11x14 acrylic on illustration board. Prints available.
