Montague "Montie" Verger is naturally smarter than his sister, but his sensibility, suspiciousness and hysteria prevent him from applying his knowledge. From the age of twelve, he has been dreaming of becoming a prosecutor, but he is afraid that someone'll know about his father’s mental disabilities and interferes with his career. In childhood, he was often an accomplice in his sister's petty crimes. He is very attached to his moms, he makes new acquaintances with difficulty, hardly makes friends with anyone except Marge and Henry.
Marjorie "Marge" Verger - cunning, a bit cruel and inventive, loves to tease and poke her brother. She is a nihilist, and although she is studying at law with Monty, she doesn't dream of a career (moreover, she was repeatedly arrested for theft and vandalism when she was a teenager). She has many irregular hobbies, easily makes friends, but Monty and Henry remain her best company.
