It's not that I don't agree with you completely. Fam projects can be awesome. Just look at all the Star Wars and Star Trek fan films. However, there are times where handing a project to the fans is less than a good idea, especially when it starts to make no sense in the context of the canon. Not that they don't have a good idea, but it often comes down to execution.
