The Ducky will be at the Basha Kill on Sunday. I am going hiking with me 13 year old cousin. Tis should be nice!! I hope to show him some Bald Eagles. I really love and adore the Basha Kill

I'm glad you like it. I sketched that last week and only just colored it up.

I'll be hiking in the Awosting Reserve tomorrow and if the weather is good I'll be doing a cross-ridge hike from Sam's Point through Minnewaska next Saturday. I just got done doing all five Catskill fire towers which was loads of fun.

Oh and I saw a bald eagle today. It was warm enough that I went out on the lake here in my kayak and there was a young eagle hanging out in one tree on the north shore of the lake that raptors like to perch on. He was probably about four years old with a fully white tail but still a line by the eye and was small with a very male looking beak so probably male. He wasn't upset by me getting close so I got a really good look from close up. Didn't have my camera though. If there's one up here I think there's a good chance you could spot a few in the Bashakill.

OH WOW!! That's excellent!! Is the Awosting Reserve just up Route 209? I would love to do that hike one of these days :D That hike does sound exciting :D How do ya get to Sam's Point?

The Awosting Reserve is off Aumick road in Ulster county. If you have the 2008 edition of the NY/NJ TC Shawangunk map set there is a map showing how to get to the parking area on the back of the Sam's Point/Minnewaska map. You could get there by taking 209 to Ellenville to Rt. 52 (a right) through Walker Valley, then left on New Prospect road (which has a light) and a left onto Awosting Road by the Hoot Owl, then the next right and the next left onto Aumick, go past the shed with the dangling boat and take the sudden right which is still Aumick. The parking area is about another half mile on the left just past a really nice house. Is that confusing enough? Welcome to Ulster county. Haha! Sam's Point would be along the way in Cragsmoor off 52. Signs point to it. There's also an awesome library in Cragsmoor.

You should be aware there's nasty construction on 17 from Middletown to Fair Oaks. You'll probably be held up a bit.

Oh yes *Ducky Giggles* The Ducky knows about that construction on Route 17 around Middletown, but it shouldn't be too bad on Sunday though. The only thing that held me up going home once was someone got into an accident going East because they didn't realize it went down to one lane ROFL
