Kipta
Potentially the 'goblins' of my D&D campaign world, darkling beetles, or Kipta in their own tongue, dwell mostly shadowy places, like caves or in deep forest villages, getting up to mischief or being bullied into serving bigger 'monster' insectoids or more powerful beings with scenery chewing monologues and goals of world domination! Kipta often can be inspired by just the right scenery chewing monologue from a good villain. They tend to be fearful except in when outnumbering their enemies, preferring to use traps, ranged weapons, deceit, ambush in large numbers to fighting honorably or fairly - or in their words 'stupidfight'.
They come in a variety of patterns and colors, though they remain predominantly black to dark colored in exoskeleton, and they stand between 3 and 4 feet tall. Rarely, an abnormally powerful psionic individual will emerge, lording it over his/her comrades and often adopting the role of 'scenery chewing villain' if another isn't available. Criepta (Giant Mole Cricket folk standing around 7 feet tall) otherwise are the most common bully-leaders of small groups of Kipta, fullfilling the role of the 'bugbear' to the Kipta's 'goblin', (even though they're horrible at monologuing).
Like goblins in my other games, the braver, less wicked are likely prone to getting reformed into cute/useful/comic relief NPC's when their lives are spared by the PC's.
