Inspired by Jules Verne's 20, 000 Leagues Under the Sea, and Richard Fleischer's 1954 film of the same name. Apparently, Verne was inspired further by the French submarine Plongeur, of which this Nautilus' design is based off, though the real thing did not have glowing portholes, or metal shark fins. :D
