The Setup

On a normal night in the Heverfel Forest, campers were treated with the surprising sight of a meteor shower. Much to their enjoyment, they watched as lights streaked across the sky in a dazzling array. One star in particular took on a bright purple hue, and instead of fading away into the night sky, it grew closer and brighter by the second. With a loud crash, and a terrifying shake, the meteorite made it’s explosive debut as it finally landed a good distance away from the campsite. Some campers were scared, whilst others immediately packed some gear and began their expedition to see what mysterious the space rock held.

What is known is that by the time the sun rose, a majority of the campers had gone missing, while a small portion of them were either dead by unknown causes or injured both physically and mentally. Interviews with the aforementioned “survivors” claimed that the meteorite was both terrifying and beautiful, a sight so glorious that it hurt to be away from it. After that, a perimeter was established around the crash site as government agencies began to quarantine the area. A rapid evolution had taken place in the forest where local wildlife and fauna had transformed drastically due to some kind of effect given off by the “meteorite.” Researchers worked around the clock to figure out what was going on, whilst elite teams were sent in to find anymore survivors.

You were one of the initial campers who witnessed the meteorite crash into the forest. Whether it was a scientific drive to discover what it was, a daredevil attitude, or the goading of your peers, you decided to finally venture out in the night with a flashlight and some gear to find the space rock. As you get closer though to the crash site though, you noticed that the trees and plants seem to be different, and that the sounds of the nocturnal animals in the area sound a lot more predatory. Once close enough to the steaming crater, you can hear an eerie whisper as if spoken by a thousand voices.
