Regardless, there does exist some ancient Chinese records on burying war prisoners alive. It is said that Bai Qi ordered the captured Zhao soldiers to be executed by burying them alive after the Battle of Changping, and Cao Cao buried Yuan Shao's soldiers alive after the Battle of Guandu. Many historians doubt their veracity, however.
