Makes me remember the shapes on the sand-dollar that I caught by accident while sitting in the ocean. Tt got washed up into my shorts. xD
From what I can find that seems to be the "footprint" of the actual fossil. Apparently it's called a Floricyclus crinoid columnals, but I'm no expert in fossils. I think they can be fascinating, but I haven't gone fossil hunting in forever.
