It's funny coincidence, my name's Athari too. So, Athari is your cub? Why this name?

*sigh* yes... cubs are something special to me.

Athari... is Swahili and means "spot" ... Jasiri and I used to RP at a browser game (LotGD)... we had a litter, and since it should have been the first of a row we chose to name the first litter with A-names, Athari was one of them, looking like his father I thought he was something special.

Hmm... According to the dictionary I use, "athari" doesn't have this meaning. I've used it myself as translation of the word "scar". Closer translation of "scar" is "kovu". :) I've searched for dictionaries now and still couldn't find any translating "athari" as "spot".

This dictionary doesn't show "priorities" like normal paper dictionaries do. Maybe "athari" can be translated as "spot", but it's not its primary meaning. Also note this:

The way I see it, using the word "athari" is like using the word "smear" or "fleck" in English; these can be used in place of the word "spot" in some cases, but they're not the words people will use when they talk about spots on animal fur.

Well, I don't know Swahili, but I've been learning English for a very long time, so know how to use didctionaries properly. :) If one doesn't know a language good enough to choose between suggested translations (multiple very often), they should look up suggestions in the reversed dictionary to see nuances. But you can never be 100% sure unless you ask native speaker.

My English may still sometimes sound funny for native speakers exactly for this reason, choosing wrong words. :)

Well, what's done is done. I think Athari is a nice word and name no matter what it means. :) This word also lost its meaning for me, I don't associate myself with scars in any way anymore. But I didn't change it, because people know me by this name.
