If I don't draw Mona Lisa at least every six months, I stop being able to draw, haha. She's all like casual and hearty and I like this version! I ship her like craaaazy with Raphael, because of course old cartoon 'verse has a very special place in my chest receptacle :P
Anyway, Ninja Turtles belongs to Mirage, but Mona might be property of Playmates? I'm not sure. Anyway, she's not mine.

I remember her! Oh childhood, where Ninja Turtles was like the bible for people who would later turn out to be super into TF. I mean, the show had it all, furries, TONS of anthro transformations, age regression, shrinking, growth, inflation...the list goes on.
In this instance I'd refer you to the Old TMNTestament, the Book of Mona, Chapter 83 Versus 6-10: "What the heck kinda lizard is Mona Lisa anyway? AND how did she turn into a lizard when there was no mutagen or an animal anywhere around during the explosion that turned a physics whiz into a lizard?"
You know, for a physicist, you would have thought she would have gone for Donatello...

You would think that Donatello would be the natural choice (in my head they are research buddies) but good girls and bad boys just go so well together :P
And yeah, I think eighties/nineties cartoons in general are a goldmine of, shall we say, offbeat subject matter, haha.

They also made a toy version of, like, ace duck and mondo gecko, so I dunno what the reasoning was, there. One of the reasons it would have been nice to have Mona make recurring appearances is the dearth of female mutants on the show. She kind of filled that niche well, without being a carbon copy of an existing turtle with boobs pasted on (see: Venus De Milo and many many fan characters).
I don't think the toy execs at the time realized how many girls loved the show, but it's pretty obvious now that it wasn't just boys rushing to the TV every Saturday.

Unfortunatly, TMNT is now owned by Nickleodeon, so lets see where this goes then....
Anywho, great love for Mona Lisa, but damnit, what's it about Raph. He gets Mona Lisa in the cartoon, and Ninjara in the Archie Comic series. Where's the love for the other brothers...I mean unless April is really that freaky off camera...

Her textbook is on thermodynamics :3
Ever since art & arch in college, I've always thought it was funny that it's really Michelangelo that was the hotheaded jerk, and Raphael that was the easy-going get along kind of guy. Leonardo and Donatello's characterizations are a little more accurate, or as accurate as pizza eating reptiles can be, haha.

Raphael Meets His Match!
Best.
Episode.
EVAR.
I think Mona solidified the anthro fandom in my heart long before I knew of the "official" fandom. I searched for YEARS to recapture that episode, and I found a VHS copy totally by chance at a Blockbuster clearance sale. Of course, fast forward several years to YouTube and now who cares...But Mona rocked. And they never used her again (to my knowledge). SUCH A MONUMENTAL WASTE.
Of course, I also fell in love with Archie Comics' TMNT rendition of Ninjara...but that's a whole 'nother ball of fur.
Great work as always, Miss Angrboda. I desperately love your style.
