It's due to space, really. FA doesn't have infinite resources, and when "fill in the blank" memes catch off, and suddenly you have 20, 50, 100, 200+ submissions all of the same image, but with a very minor tweak that can be done in 30 seconds... it eats a lot of resources, a lot of space and costs us money for bandwidth.
