During the Christmas season of 2018, I'd underwent moments of depression that had kept me from doing the normal routines associated with the holiday: buying presents and wrapping them, making a list of recipients, and sending out greeting cards on time. But I was so out of it, I didn't get to mail out the first greeting cards and packages until December 24th - Christmas Eve! I didn't even get to reply to any holiday cards from those of you out there who wrote to me first!
But now that I've decompressed from all this holiday madness, I've decided to send out belated greetings to several friends of mine. Using some discounted Christmas cards (I'd bought at a Barnes & Noble bookstore), I had ideas of drawing my bobcat 'fursona' to convey my message, based on the cover art of each card...
One of the cards had on its cover a Florida variation of the holiday song "The Twelve Days of Christmas" - with alternate lyrics, such as "Six Dolphins Leaping, Seven Flamingos Flocking, Eight Key Lime Pies Baking", and so on. It's the line with the pies that inspired this "Throwaway Gag"...
I'd drawn 'Rob Cat' on the inside of the card, dressed in a Santa suit and cap, and holding up a plate with a slice of Key Lime Pie on it, to offer to the recipient (who, obviously, lives out-of-state).
I'll have another "Throwaway Gag", consisting of another piece of Christmas card art (inside a different greeting card), shortly...
P.S. It's only coincidental that I'd posted this scanned image on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 - which just happens to be "Pie Day" (according to one of my calendars that depicts unusual occasions throughout the year).

Yeah, steamfox, I know that March 14th is Pi Day (as in the mathematical equation 3.14), which most folks associate with Pie. But my 2019 calendar mentioned various dates connected to other foods.
Just in January alone, the 2nd is "Cream Puff Day", the 3rd is "Chocolate-Covered Cherry Day", the 4th is "Spaghetti Day", the 5th is "Whipped Cream Day", the 6th is "Bean Day" and "Shortbread Day", the 7th is "Tempura Day", etc., etc., etc.
You may be right about Key Lime Pie, based on its affiliation with Florida, but a recent episode of "CBS Sunday Morning" begs to differ, as several chefs (expert and novice alike) claim that the pastry originated in New York City (which find hard to believe)!
Go to this website, and find out the true origin of Key Lime Pie: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/the-or.....-key-lime-pie/

HAH! Now I'll have to see if I can find a copy of that Calendar. My friend Scott in Kentucky had a sort of "Whacky Inventions" calendar which had the invention dates of fairly commonplace tool and utensils listed, plus listed other things like: "National Spatula Day" and "Global Belly Laugh Day."

This can be kinda fun.

The calendar I was using for all that data is called the "2019 Special Day Calendar"(C), which I'd acquired at my local Publix supermarket. (It's also for sale at participating Office Depot/Kinko's.)
At this time, all calendars in participating supermarkets and the like are being sold for half-price. The "2019 Special Day Calendar"(C) (whose exterior is yellow) retails for $12.99; so at 50% off, it should only cost you $6.50 + tax (a real chunk of change)!
I hope you find it!

CORRECTION: It's called the "2019 National Day Calendar"(C) and not "The Special Day Calendar". Sorry for the faux pas!
In a worst case scenario, if you can't find that calendar, let me know, and I could buy one for you down here in Florida and snail-mail it to you (E-mailing me your address in private, naturally). But let's see what happens first with you...
