Paul and Tanner from
comidacomida's "More Than Friends" series.
Communication is the glue that keeps relationships from breaking down and dissolving; it's what builds and strengthens the ties between two people. Paul has a much needed heart-to-heart with Tanner in which some important issues are brought out and discussed.
Comidacomida has written a very touching chapter to go along with this pic: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3040130
I highly recommend reading it and giving the author the love and attention he deserves for such a fantastic story.

Thanks, expressions are fun to both watch and draw. I enjoy watching the different expressions people make when they think no one's watching, or when they're having a discussion with someone else across the room. I like faces, so I try to make interesting expressions when I draw. Its what keeps me entertained
Clothes ARE difficult, I would think.
Minor composition quibble: There's a lot of blank space toward the top and left. I think it could stand to be trimmed from that side, though in roughly the same aspect. As it is, their heads, for instance, are about halfway down the picture - and one of the few things I remember from composition in photography is that the eye gravitates to thirds.
Expressions are top notch. The human's pose looks good; the dog's would except that it makes his tail appear to be boneless, coming straight out perpendicular to his spine. It is neat, though, that their poses are somewhat, but not entirely, reflections of each other(legs are, arms aren't, in case I'm not expressing myself well).
Overall, I like the piece, and approve heartily of its like. Human/furry with some serious emotion behind it... double win right there.

Ha well you caught me. I don't really know anything about composition at all. I just remember hearing sometime "that subject off center = a more interesting piece" so thats what I was trying here. But thanks for the advice, I'll keep that thirds thing in mind for the future
As AmraPus noted, the use of the starry sky as a significant portion of the picture is a fair notion. It's just the specific amount of it that gets to me. If there were more of it, and the couple were in the bottom right third or so, it'd emphasize the sky; if less of it, the sky would still be there, but would let the characters take the foreground.
As it is... I can't think of a good way to say it. It "feels like a mis-crop", I could say, but the language there is stronger than what I actually want to use.
(I did fave the pic, after all!)

It's up, and it's a very involved read... not too long though.

I love it lots. Reassures me to see a love story that doesn't end in tragedy (hopefully not), but rather a gentle opposite. I just wonder what's going to happen when/if Tanner DOES feel real love for Paul, and what/how he'll say it....
Ah, the longings for the gap between man and animal to be connected.

Hey man glad you like it. I think that the love connection is there, its just a small clash between the two cultures: humans feel the need to say it in order to express it, while dogs are able to show their emotions with their body language easier, which takes the place of the words. So who knows whats gonna happen in the future between the two, I'm just as excited to find out as you I'm sure
