Time sure takes you to some weird places, huh? You start out as one thing and suddenly you realise you're kind of something most people go 'fuck this shit I'm out' to. Oh well, they say you should be honest with yourself, right?
This is a reference sheet done by
slug, who has immense patience and artistic fortitude. I can't say thanks enough for working on it, and I'm really thrilled with the results. The colours really spring.
This is the safe for work version! There's also a NSFW one, though it has some stuff that more common species might find weird. Or fun, if you're into it.
I've always felt that reference sheets seem a little... abstract, and I like things having a tangible feel to them. So this reference sheet is effectively themed as a specimen information file in some high-tech biological facility, detailing information about all the captive creatures. After all, if you're some researcher/scientist/pervert working in a laboratory with potentially deadly creatures, you'd want to know everything about them, right?
The whole spatial aspect is something that I really like, but feel very cautious about. There's so much fun to be had with bending geometry - something an increasing number of people seem to have collectively realised, hey - but it's a very broken ability if it's not set some hard limitations and caveats. Probably why it's practically impossible in reality. How quick would Lord of the Rings have been if everyone could just warp to Mount Doom? Either way, though not specified here, the whole spatial aspect in the bottom left has a few limits to it because I think that makes it thematically stronger. But it's still lots of fun.
Anyway, ramble over. Art ©
