These are my battery setup for these 18650 i harvest almost every sunday, and later of get many of them with good capacity, do a battery for my E-bike kit, these deliver about 21000 mAH at 36v, that means these are welded as 10P,10s configuration, my e-bike takes about 750W of maxium power, meaning the bike can get about an hour of range, almost 42 to 45 KM of autonomy. and even almost twice if i use the pedals. But since i got two of them, i can go to any place in my city without any issue.
The good things about get these is how much you can save with but the expense of your time welding it, but it really worth the time, Because making the math about how much cost everything, compared to a new cell, the saves are really, really big.
I got these cells from laptop batteries i but from the flea market in the Bogota´s center, and each will cost $1 to 1.5 each, later of carefully dissasemble them, i test them separatedly with an Opus Bt-c1000, making a charge and dischange test. Later of getting the good cells and the bad ones, i pick the good ones of about 2000 to 2300 mAH, these will cost about $ 0.20 each, covering the cost of the bad ones, and later of get 100 of them, i build the battery, each cost about $28 to $40 to make instead of $500 to $600 that cost here Each one with similar capacity.
Now i know if somebody sees the battery and how is built, they said how bad is built, but since i got a lot of limitations of getting the materials like the nickel connectors, i have the spot welding device, instead of use them i use normal electronic soldering, with copper and not too thick if a short happens they will melt working as a fuse, and for stick them together, i use hot melting glue, and for protect them from shock, i use a foam with a lot of duct tape.
I use them for about 8 months and they still working super great!
For charging them i use a chinese 42V Li-ion charger, and they work great, and each 10 cycle charges i balanced them with my homemade balancer, i use 10 5v 2A adapters with 2 TP4056 chargers each in a total of 20 of them for a fast the charge in each series of batteries.
Maybe anyone has something to ask, just let me know, Also i want use some Li-FePo batteries just for see how these works too.
