Thank you! Actually, it wasn't a form I usually use... transferring the second and fourth lines of the stanza before to the first and third of the next isn't usually my thing. But I'm glad you think it turned out well n.n

Very nice; and I like the nuance of carrying the lines down; kind of like describing each carried set a bit further; and that, in turn, carries down.

I actually chose Eva for this poem because the song is quite sorrowful, so... it made it a perfect choice n.n I actually prefer Once over Dark Passion Play, but that's a close second!

I think that while Annallene isn't the same as Tarja, but you have to appreciate her in a different sense. Tarja's more of a classical dramatic singer, but did you 'hear' how much control Annallene has over her voice? It's insane. Which is why I appreciate them both a lot.

True; though I'll still have a special place for Tarja; she could bring out so much from the music; and she had so much POWER; heh ^^

I did enjoy Amaranth quite a bit though... And Dark Passion Play's Instrumental versions of their songs are just.. amazing ^^ I hope that Annallene grows on me as much as Tarja did ^^

Nightwish was one of those bands that got me to seek out music again; it was so new and wondrous; It could have been calling to my Celtic heritage that was majorly unknown until just recently; as I found myself fervently seeking them out and so many others like them.

Haha, well, I heard Annallene first, so... *shrugs and laughs* I've always appreciated her works. It took me a bit to get used to Tarja's singing... she's much more opera style and carries the style, but it was difficult to appreciate it until I stopped comparing the two and focused on their individual advantages: Tarja carries the power of classical opera singing, and Annallene's control over her voice is something to be appreciated all to it's own. Both of them are wonderful singers, and both of them sound great with the band.

Huh... well, on the poem, I really think the subject is deep and touching... The rhyme scheme is a little odd, though, making it hard to read. The rhythm is a bit unsteady, and it's like each line was meant to A) get the words in and B) rhyme, with no thought to the cadence. Though I'm not sure whether I'd call it a bad thing... the subject itself is unsteady, like the poem, so maybe a steady cadence would have detracted from the poem.

The rhyme scheme was mostly just trying to match the ending two words of each line; I was just randomly inspired one day to write that. The story behind it, actually; is an artist I had followed for a long time; Bliss GreyCloud; had been going through a rough time; one in which she had felt stricken by the person she wanted to be with. She had gone quiet from the net for months; and it kinda bugged me... above all else; I would have liked to have just talked to her... to get to know the woman behind the art... Because her art was quite inspirational...

I used her pain to create a metaphorical story of a man fighting to 'restore' the one he loved to the status in which he 'knows' her to be. (hence how she's whole and graceful in his dreams; yet scarred and beaten in the living world)
Wings; as we all know, can be a metaphor for freedom; but I was using it specifically for the freedom of one's emotion. As the poem progresses; I was trying to show the idea of "Here's a woman, who is beautiful; yet has been mistreated and misunderstood so long that she is afraid to be who she is inside. She has also built up a lot of defense mechanisms because of her mistreatment. The man tries to convince her to open up; and to trust him, not assume he will be like all the rest."


I think the line I'm most proud of is:

Earthbound, Life's barbed chains hold and stay thee.
And hounds, like men, spin 'round and betray thee.

I was illustrating the pull and weight heartbreak and negative emotions can have on someone in the first line there; but the second was my clever way of hinting to the reader the CAUSE of that distress; and poke an insult at them as well.


As for Bliss GreyCloud: She has since removed all of her Art from the Net. I was actually THERE when that happened on DA...

However; this story does not have a sad ending ^^ I was able to archive a lot of her past works; and created my first-ever Artist Tribute video.

Three weeks after I had uploaded the video; I received something amazing... Bliss GreyCloud; who had been an internet recluse; dropped by and Thanked me for making the video... I was so happy ^^ That inspired me to make more videos; even to this day...

I didn't realize until later just how fitting that song was that I used. It's always been one of my favorites; and such an epic song to end the epic game of MGS1 on.

Since I made that tribute; I've found myself taking on more ambitious projects; like my series of Wrongside Tributes and Milestones... My first foray into AMVs; and the most recent tribute to StolenGeneration and RestoredGeneration (SG/RG).
